Dubai: The organising committee of the 43ft dhow sailing race - the second round of the Dubai Dhow Sailing Championship – had to be called off at the last moment due to gusty winds off the Mina Seyahi waters of Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) on Saturday.

After waiting for a couple of hours to see if conditions would change, the organisers raised the red flag at around 3 pm to signal that the race could not be held due to prevailing conditions. The new date for the race will be announced shortly.

Exactly 85 dhows had confirmed their participation for the race, the second round of the four-legged championships.
