Abu Dhabi: The number of participants at the World Jiu-Jitsu Children’s Cup is set to increase this year with over 2,000 youth expected to participate in the event that will be held in the IPIC Arena at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi from April 20 to 22.

The Abu Dhabi World Pro-fessional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2015 will be held on April 23 to 25 according to organisers the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation. “Due to the growing numbers we have increased the two-day event to three days,” said Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, chief executive of UAEJJF.

“The stage is getting bigger now giving opportunity to more numbers. They can showcase their skills in front of a huge crowd. Our main target is to give them sufficient exposure.

“We have already concentrated extensively on youth programmes taking it to schools, but giving them more opportunities at this stage is important for their growth in the sport,” he added.
