London: A joyrider who drove on to the Brands Hatch circuit during a race and later boasted about it online was sentenced to eight months in jail on Monday.

Jack Cottle, 22, was filmed by friend Zac Copson in the back seat as his terrified passenger, 18-year-old Saskia Fisk, begged him to stop.

The mobile phone footage, which has been viewed more than two million times online, shows VW Beetle racing cars accelerating past the white VW Polo at speeds of up to 160kph, and Fisk, the owner of the car, screaming ‘I can’t breathe’ in fear.

On a Facebook page dedicated to ‘Full Throttle Cottle’, he boasted the prank at the Kent racing track in June was `quite funny’. But he later pleaded guilty to causing a public nuisance at Maidstone Crown Court in October.

On Monday Judge Martin Joy told the builder from Wadhurst, East Sussex: “Your deliberate behaviour not only endangered your own life but those of your passengers, competitors, emergency services, marshals, stewards and anyone else who was nearby.”
