Abu Dhabi: Five of the UAE’s most talented junior drivers from the Daman Speed Academy (DSA) will be taking part in an invitational race event at the Al Ain Raceway on Friday.

Organisers say the race will be an excellent opportunity for the DSA drivers to get additional competitive race experience and warm up before the Rotax Max Challenge season begins in October.

After recently returning from an intensive summer camp at the Laval circuit, where they competed in one of France’s toughest Rotax Max Challenges, the DSA drivers will be aiming to build on their experiences abroad on home soil.

In the Mini Max Category, Hamda Al Qubaisi will be competing in the “FIA Women In Motorsport” colours for the first time this season. Her sister, Amna, will be taking part the in Junior Max category, while Ahmad Al Khamisi is in the Senior Max category and Ali Al Shamsi is in Micro Max. Meanwhile, Saeed Al Ali will be making his debut in the DD2 class.

Robert Cregan, DSA Programme Director at Abu Dhabi Racing, said: “We had a good season last year and now we are looking forward to building on last year in the coming season. I think the Al Ain Raceway Invitational race will be very competitive but our sights are firmly set on podium finishes.

“It will also be a great opportunity for final testing ahead of the new season and for the team mechanics and drivers to get back into the UAE Rotax Max Challenge mode after the summer break.”
