Abu Dhabi: Fifteen per cent of the total tickets on offer for the 2014 Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix remain, according to Yas Marina Circuit Chief Executive Officer Al Tareq Al Ameri.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the Circuit’s new calendar of activities on Monday, Al Ameri predicted that Tuesday’s announcement of the after-race concert performers on November 21-23 would result in all tickets being snapped up in record time.

The concerts have become a popular accompaniment to the racing action, given that high-profile music stars such as Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue and American rapper Eminem have been lured to perform in previous years.

Al Ameri said: “We have 15 per cent of tickets left to sell and these should sell faster than ever before once we announce the after-race performers on Tuesday.”

The Emirati added that the prospect of the final grand prix of the season operating a double-points system for the first time — the winner will get 50 points as opposed to the normal 25 — is another big incentive for those interested in buying tickets, as it could result in the F1 drivers’ title being decided in Abu Dhabi.
