Silverstone, England: Nico Rosberg recovered from a hydraulics problem to set the fastest time in the first practice session Friday for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Formula One world champion Hamilton leads Rosberg by 10 points going into his home grand prix Sunday after the German won three of the last four races.

Third fastest on the 5.891-kilometre circuit was Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen followed by Kimi Raikkonen in a Ferrari, Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.

Red Bull duo Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat, Nico Huelkenberg in a Force India and Felipe Massa in a Williams completed the leading 10.
