Dubai: The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East returns for its sixth edition next month.

The six-stage 12-race series, aimed at developing Arab talent, gets under way with a night race in Bahrain on November 14-15 during the World Endurance Championship weekend and will conclude with next year’s Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix weekend from April 4-5.

In between, there will be two Dubai stages on December 5-6 and February 27-28 either side of two meetings in Qatar on January 23-24 and February 13-14.

Zaid Ashkanani became the youngest champion last season, winning by a single point.

Series manager Walter Lechner will be hoping this season is just as dramatic. “Last season we saw how compelling and competitive this series has become and I expect it will be even stronger this year,” he said.

“Being the support race to the World Endurance Championship and Formula One race weekends, is the perfect example of how the series’ reputation has grown over the years.”
