Leafield, England: Formula 1 team Caterham has cut staff numbers and made new appointments as part of a restructuring following the takeover by new owners earlier this month.
The team says the staff cuts are “a necessary step taken by the new owners of Caterham F1 Team, whose priority is the future of the team.”
Former F1 driver Christijan Albers, who was appointed team principal after the takeover, is joined by Simon Shinkins as chief operating officer and Miodrag Kotur as team manager. Gianluca Pisanello is promoted to head of trackside engineering and John Iley is now technical director.
Caterham was taken over by a consortium of Swiss and Middle Eastern investors advised by former HRT team boss Colin Kolles.
The Renault-powered team is last in the constructors’ standings without a point.
