Dubai: Automobile and Touring Club of UAE (ATCUAE) President Mohammad Bin Sulayem faces a daunting task, despite the 2015 Formula One World Championship having already been decided, in delivering the seventh Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix when the spectacle returns to Yas Marina Circuit this weekend.

“Last year, the championship was decided in Abu Dhabi whereas Lewis Hamilton has it already sewn up this year. However, that makes no difference to us either way. We have 650 volunteers from UAE Motorsport Marshals Club this year to manage the event, who were all trained according to the highest international standards, they showed great commitment and wide knowledge about their specific tasks, they are all educated and most of them have either a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree. We are pleased to see their loyalty and passion to the motorsport in UAE, both UAE nationals and residents, and I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable and safe event,” said Bin Sulayem.

“As a former driver, I can tell you that everyone out on that grid, Hamilton included, will still be driving to the edge of their abilities and determined to win the final round of the season. The challenge that the ATCUAE faces, in ensuring that the event remains safe, stays the same,” added Bin Sulayem who also stressed on the importance of collaboration with Takatuf, and their leading role in building and enhancing the volunteering culture among Emiratis and residents and especially among the young generation.

It is under Bin Sulayem’s leadership, the ATCUAE performs a duel role in the running of the event; as the sole UAE representative of the FIA, the governing body of world motorsport. The ATCUAE is tasked with ensuring that the event is organised and run to regulation and meets the standard of all events in the championship. In addition to this, since the first event in 2009, the ATCUAE has been contracted by Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management (ADMM, the government organisation who operates the circuit and promotes the event to be the Sporting Organiser.
