Ras Al Khaimah: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (Raktda) is keen to ride the success of the annual Dubai Tour and achieve the emirate’s goals in boosting tourism.

This is the second year that Raktda has been a sponsor of the Dubai Tour and its CEO Haitham Mattar is more than satisfied with the returns on investment. “If you ask me, sponsoring the Dubai Tour has nothing to do with the returns as much as media coverage and attention Ras Al Khaimah gets. We are more than pleased with this exposure that we get through such an international sporting event,” Mattar told Gulf News.

“The Dubai Tour is one of the key events in our portfolio, and the fact that Stage Two is the longest [190km] gives us this added advantage. It is certainly part of our strategy to place Ras Al Khaimah as the adventure hub for tourists in the Middle East,” he added.

One of the world’s fastest growing tourism destinations, Ras Al Khaimah boasts a rich culture and long-standing history dating back 7,000 years. The UAE’s northernmost emirate houses an array of archaeological sites and breathtaking natural vistas, from 64km of golden sand beaches, awe-inspiring terracotta dunes and a green belt of date palms to the 1,934-metre Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the UAE where one can hike, zipline and cycle.

The eastern part of the emirate has the spectacular range of the Hajar Mountains that were formed more than 70 million years ago.

Earlier this month, the longest zipline in the world was inaugurated in Ras Al Khaimah, propelling the emirate into the major league of global adventure tourism.
