Dubai: Double Dubai champion Michael Van Gerwen again came from 4-1 down, this time to beat Adrian Lewis 11-9 in the second semi-final of the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters at Dubai Tennis Stadium on Friday.

Van Gerwen’s early struggles replicated that of his quarter-final win over Raymond Van Barneveld on Thursday where he came from 4-1 down to win 10-8 to continue his unbeaten run in the emirate and keep his Dubai hat-trick dream alive.

The Dutchman will now play 16-time world champion Phil Taylor in Friday’s final after Taylor disposed of current world and Premier League champion Gary Anderson 11-3 in the earlier semi-final.

“I’m so glad with this win, it was a very hard one,” said Van Gerwen. “Adrian played very well and it was a fantastic match for all to see, we both needed to play our A-game in very difficult conditions but the crowd was amazing tonight.

Van Gerwen added that he would need to improve for the final against Taylor.

“I’m making it too hard for myself,” he said. “But the most important thing is that I’m still here and I’ve got to improve because I’m playing Phil in the final. If I want to retain my title I will have to play my A-game, but I’m up for it.”
