The Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) on Sunday launched a limited edition credit card to mark the fifth edition of the Dubai Tour. Dubai: The Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) has affirmed its commitment in furthering the cause of a healthier lifestyle through its involvement in the annual Dubai Tour.

CBD has been the official sponsor of Dubai Tour since the past three years and to mark its fourth year with the cycle race the bank announced the launch of a limited edition credit card on Sunday.

The Dubai Tour-CBD Visa Infinite credit card, featuring discounts at various health and fitness destinations all over the UAE, with be offered to patrons and visitors of Dubai Tour this year.

“Our social responsibility lies in actually boosting healthy lifestyles through the work that we do starting at the grassroots. We are strategic partners with Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and this gives us an added push to work towards an active lifestyle that is very much in keeping with initiatives put forward by the Government,” Dr Bernd van Linder, CEO of CBD, told media on Sunday.

“I’ve had the opportunity of speaking to various cycling teams and their riders, and all of them have told me how much they enjoy being part of the Dubai Tour. When we have such fantastic athletes descending in our city we need to optimise their presence and push towards the ultimate goal of raising the level of healthy living,” he added.

In a matter of just four years the annual Dubai Tour has grown to be one of the major events on the UCI’s cycling calendar.

“For us, this is a truly global event that has made its presence felt across the world in such a short time. So our task really is an easy one as try to stay fully aligned to the initiatives laid down by the government in bettering society through various means such as the cycle tour,” van Linder noted.

“Preliminary in-house studies carried out so far show how an event like the cycling tour has had an impact on people and society on the whole. This can only get better in the future,” he added.

Saeed Hareb, General Secretary, DSC reiterated the sport body’s commitment to its strategic partners. “In the near future we cannot see the Dubai Sports Council operating without such a valuable partner like CBD,” Hareb said.

“The well-being of community is our prime goal and we are glad to have CBD on our journey of well-being,” he added.
