Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received yesterday a delegation from the UAE Chess Federation (UAECF). The delegation was headed by Saeed Mohammad Al Miqbali and Saud Mohammad Al Marzouqi, Manager of UAECF.

The delegation included chess players from different age groups who have made significant achievements in the Asian and regional championships, as well as gold, silver and bronze medals winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaikh Mohammad said he was impressed by the great achievements of both male and female UAE players in various tournaments, and stressed his confidence in the capabilities of UAE cadres in achieving excellence and accomplishments in all fields including sport.

Shaikh Mohammad exchanged cordial talks with the players and urged them to keep training and striving towards achieving outstanding results in coming tournaments. He also wished them more victories in the future and the development of their capabilities and improving on their educational accomplishments.

“Nations are built on brains and not wealth. It is through the leadership of men and women alike, an approach that needs to be adopted by all, which determines how a great civilisation is built and how a country develops a better future for its children and grandchildren,” said Shaikh Mohammad.
