PHILADELPHIA: Martin St. Louis reached 1,000 career NHL points with a goal and an assist, Cam Talbot made 26 saves as the New York Rangers beat the slumping Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 on Friday.

Rick Nash and Dan Boyle also scored for the Rangers (10-8-4), who shut out the Flyers for the second time in nine days.

Philadelphia (8-11-3) dropped to 1-6-1 in its last eight games while getting blanked for the third time in its last six. Boos rained down on the Flyers during the third period.

The Flyers held a players’ only meeting after Wednesday’s 5-2 loss at Detroit but responded with a similar result. The Rangers had skated to a 2-0 win over the Flyers on Nov. 19. The teams will play in New York on Saturday.

Elsewhere in Newark, Gustav Nyquist scored the only goal in the shootout, as Detroit rallied to beat New Jersey. Meanwhile at Anaheim, Patrick Kane scored two goals, and Andrew Shaw and Brad Richards each had a goal and an assist, as they led Chicago to victory over Anaheim.

In Washington, Matt Niskanen had three assists as Washington slowed down the streaking New York Islanders. Ovechkin gave Washington a 3-2 lead midway through the second period. He has four goals in four games,

Marcus Johansson and Evgeny Kuznetsov each had a goal and an assist, and Andre Burakovsky and Joel Ward also scored for the Capitals.

Braden Holtby stopped 26 shots. He has a 1.86 goals-against average over his last seven games.

After a 3-2 overtime loss on Long Island on Wednesday night, the Capitals earned a split of the home-and-home set.

John Tavares and Anders Lee scored for New York, and Chad Johnson made 22 saves. The Islanders had won five straight and 10 of 11.

In other matches, Nathan Gerbe’s power-play goal broke a third period tie, as Carolina earned a rare road win by beating Pittsburgh. Boston rallied to beat Winnipeg with Dougie Hamilton scoring 3:39 into overtime.

Buffalo beat Montreal thanks to Matt Moulson’s tiebreaking power-play goal with 1:18 left.

At Columbus, Ryan Miller made 31 saves for his second consecutive shutout, his third of the season and 32nd of his career, as streaking Vancouver topped struggling Columbus.

Miller, tied for the NHL lead with 15 wins, extended his scoreless run to 152 minutes, 5 seconds for the Canucks, who are tied for first in the Western Conference. They are 6-1-1 in their past eight games.

Chris Higgins and Brad Richardson both had a goal and an assist for Vancouver, which played the first game of a season-high, seven-game, 12-day road trip. Henrik Sedin, Shawn Matthias and Alexandre Burrows also scored, and Nick Bonino added three assists.

Columbus have lost five in a row and has dropped to the bottom of the NHL standings with a 2-12-2 slide. Sergei Bobrovsky allowed four goals on 29 shots.
