Abu Dhabi: The Wellington racecourse in Ostende, Belgium, will on Monday host the seventh tournament of the UAE’s President’s Cup for five-year-old and above purebred Arabians, who will compete in a 160-kilometre endurance race.

Thirteen horses will take part in the competition, which is the highest number of competitors to take part so far in an Arabian horse race in Belgium, with a total prize money of €30,000 (Dh148,000) up for grabs.

The competition is organised as part of efforts to raise the profile of Arabian horses on the international platform and to strengthen their cultural heritage and value, following the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and with the support of His Highness General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the follow-up of HH Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President.
