Dubai: Godolphin’s Sky Hunter won the William Hill 80th Anniversary Book Launch Doonside Cup, one of the highlights of Scotland’s most prestigious race meeting on Saturday.

The winner, trained by Saeed Bin Surour and ridden by Graham Lee, was notching his first win of the season having triumphed in the Listed Prix Frederic De Lagrange at France in July last year.

Meanwhile, Huntsmans Close came from stall 27 to win the Ayr Silver Cup.

Ridden by James Doyle for Roger Charlton, the British raider prevailed by a length from Mehdi, the mount of James McDonald

Doyle completed a meet double having won the opening QTS Nursery aboard the Richard Hannon-trained Power Play.

The winning jockey said of Huntsman Close: “Roger had him in great nick and he didn’t turn a hair.”
