Muhaarar, owned by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, was named the Cartier Sprinter of the Year at the 25th annual Cartier Racing Awards in London on Tuesday night.
The colt, who was bred by Shaikh Hamdan at Shadwell Estate Company Limited in the UK, recorded a remarkable four consecutive Group One sprint victories this season.
The is the second consecutive year that a horse owned by Shaikh Hamdan has been honoured at the Awards, European horse racing's equivalent of the Oscars.
Last year Taghrooda picked up the Cartier Three-Year-Old Filly award.
Shaikh Hamdan also received the prestigious Cartier Award of Merit last season which recognised over three and a half decades of commitment to the sport of horse racing as a owner, breeder and promoter.
Epsom Derby winner Golden Horn was adjudged Cartier Horse of the Year, a category in which Muhaarar was also in the running together with Solow and Legatissimo.
The Cartier Racing Awards were established in 1991 to reward excellence in horse racing.
