Dubai: Highly-regarded racing sponsor, Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL), will continue their long association with horse racing in the UAE when they sponsor Thursday evening’s six-race card.

The primary aluminium producer, an industry leader in Dubai, has been a prized supporter of racing since 2005 and traditionally lend their name to one race meeting at Meydan and one during the Dubai World Cup Carnival every season.

This week DUBAL sponsors Meydan’s first Conditions race of the new term, the DUBAL Excellence Trophy, which carries a lucrative purse of Dh126,000.

A field of seven led by Godolphin Mile (G2) runner-up Haatheq will contest the 1800m event.

In addition there is a valuable support race on the same card, the DUBAL Potlines Trophy handicap worth Dh110,000.

Commenting on DUBAL’s partnership with racing, Khalid Essa Buhumaid, Vice-President Corporate Relations & International Affairs, said: “A world-class aluminium smelter, and the nation’s industrial flagship, DUBAL is proud to sponsor Dubai Racing Club’s annual Racing at Meydan and Dubai World Cup Carnival meetings again for the 2013/2014 season.

“By partnering with this high-profile event for the past eight years, DUBAL has successfully promoted the social and economic growth of Dubai — to the benefit of the emirate’s cosmopolitan population. Together, we shine.”

Malih Lahej Al Basti, Boardmember & Chairman Meydan Racing Committee, added: “DUBAL is now at the beginning of its ninth season as a sponsor with Dubai Racing Club and we believe that our continued success lies in forging these long-term partnerships with some of the UAE’s most highly-regarded companies.

“DUBAL is one of the key businesses in Dubai that has truly grasped the important role that our industry leaders play in growing this sport, which is so integral to Emirati culture.”
