Dubai: Mena Golf Tour (MGT) hotshot Joshua White was unveiled as a global brand ambassador of Golf in Dubai on Monday.
The 2014 MGT Order of Merit winner finished tied for 24th in the Asian Tour’s season-ending Dubai Open last year and started this season’s ten-stage MGT campaign with a tied for ninth place finish in Rabat, Morocco.
White joins the likes of fellow Golf in Dubai ambassadors Thomas Bjorn, Jeev Milka Singh, Stephen Gallacher, Zane Scotland, Matt Fitzpatrick, Faycal Serghini, Dame Laura Davies and coach Peter Cowen.
“It is indeed a great honour and privilege to be part of a team that enjoys impeccable credentials when it comes to organising world-class events like the Omega Dubai Desert Class and the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters,” said the 23-year-old from London.
“What Golf in Dubai is doing for the overall development of golf, especially in the Mena region, is even more impressive. It is a tribute to their ingenuity that the Mena Golf Tour has grown exponentially, attracting players from across the world.
“It has happened because attractive prize funds, guaranteed spots in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the Dubai Open are some of the incentives compelling enough for players to join the tour,” said White, who boasts one victory and three runner-up finishes since joining the Mena Golf Tour in 2013.
Mohammad Juma Bu Amim, vice-chairman and chief executive officer of Golf in Dubai and chairman of the MGT, welcomed White to the Golf in Dubai family.
“Joshua is a bright and rising star one who lets his golf to do the talking. We feel it is very important to support promising players as they are the ones who inspire more people to take up golf at the right age,” he said.
“Joshua has already shown his extraordinary talent and if he continues like he has been he’ll have a tremendously bright future.”
