Al Ain: A total of 113 points ensured Ian Horbury and Anton Van Schalwyk won the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) Summer Pairs Open event at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club (AESGC).
Some 46 players in 23 teams took to the course for the two-day event, with day one played as a Better Ball Stableford and day two as an Individual Pairs Stableford.
The winning pair’s score of 113 was made up of 41 on the first day, followed by scores of 36 and 36 to seal victory on day two. The winners received trophies and a two-night stay at a Rotana Hotels property.
Craig Hanson and Theuns Webb finished in second place with 109 points. On day one the pair scored 40 points and followed that with 38 and 31 for day two. They earned a one-night stay at a Rotana Hotels property. After a count-back, Arto Schroderus and Chris De Kock placed third with 106 points. With a day one points total of 34, the pair bounced back with 35 and 37 for day two.
The father and son pairing of Sergio and Sidney De Souza came in fourth also on 106.
Rounding out the top five were Graham and Carmen Hurdon with 103 points after a count-back.
This event was the first of three that the EGF will be organising throughout the summer.
