Dubai: Henrik Stenson needs to be wary of fellow Swede Alex Noren in Sunday’s final round of the DP World Tour Championship if he is to hang onto the Race to Dubai.

Third in the money-list, Noren is on seven under-par for the tournament and tied for 13th in the leaderboard — six strokes off the lead — after shooting rounds of 71, 69, 69.

Meanwhile, money-list leader Stenson is two strokes behind, tied for 22nd after carding 72, 69, 70. “I know if Alex finishes second on his own, I’ve got to be inside the top eight, so that’s kind of the scenario I’m trying to achieve,” said Stenson.

“Obviously it’s a long way for me to be second on my own in case Noren were to win. I’ve just got to keep at it and try and play a good round tomorrow, finish off the week, and start counting afterwards.”

Stenson’s Race to Dubai lead was also challenged by Danny Willett and Rory McIlroy heading into the tournament.

Willett, second in the money-list, needed to finish as high as fourth while hoping Stenson fell to as low as 30th. But Willett is now all but out of the running after adding a 76 to opening rounds of 71 and 70 on Saturday to stand one over par for the tournament, tied for 51st in the leaderboard.

Likewise, McIlroy needed to win the tournament and hope Stenson fell to below 45th. But neither look likely. McIlroy is level with Stenson at five under tied for 22 after rounds of 75, 68, 68.
