Dubai:  Hassan Al Musharrekh won the 2010 Dubai Creek Junior Amateur Open in emphatic style on Friday. In extremely windy conditions, the talented UAE national team and Dubai Creek member had to dig deep after starting off with a bogey and double-bogey but showed great character and finished the next 15 holes on par with two birdies and bogeys each.

Al Musharrekh held his nerve on the 18th hole with the howling crosswind coming in from the creek and safely negotiated a bogey to pull off an amazing gross 4-over-par 75 to win by a clear four shots.

Dubai resident Paul Forrester, representing his home country Australia, finished runner-up with a gross 79. Scratch golfer from Emirates Golf Club (EGC), Philip Urasch, finished third with a gross score of 80.

Al Musharrekh later thanked his brother among others for his win. "Thank you to all the players for taking part today and my two playing partners made it an enjoyable round. A big thank you to my brother Ahmad who caddied for me and he was a great contribution towards this win. Thanks to Al Naboodah and Wasl for sponsoring the Junior Open and without their support this event would not have been possible. Also thank you to David and Alan at the Creek for organising the event and with Rob Gradishar and his team ensuring the course was in excellent shape for the day."
