Shenzhen: Pep Guardiola claimed his first win as City boss after beating Borussia Dortmund on penalties in Shenzhen, China on Thursday.

Sergio Aguero had looked like winning it in normal time after coming off the bench to score the first City goal of Pep’s reign on 78 minutes.

But the match went to spot-kicks after it was cancelled out by an injury time strike from Christian Pulisic.

In the shoot-out, Alex Garcia and Sterling both missed for City but three saves from young substitute goalkeeper Angus Gunn saw the Blues come out on top, winning in sudden death, 6-5.

Afterwards, however, Guardiola said Samir Nasri hasn’t played in pre-season yet because he returned from holiday “a bit overweight”.

Guardiola added: “Last season he missed almost the whole year and we don’t want that to happen again — he has to be fit. I want the fans to know that they can be so, so proud of these players — every one of them. Every training session they try, to learn and they fight.”
