Dubai: Al Nasr have denied that Belgian striker Mohammad ‘Meme’ Tchite is one of two forwards in negotiation with the Oud Mehta-based club.

Al Nasr vice-president Ahmad Al Khoury revealed on Tuesday that a new shirt sponsorship agreement with container port company DP World would help the club sign two “superstar strikers” from Europe.

Burundi-born Tchite, 29, from Belgium’s Club Brugge, was thought to be one of those options after Tchite’s agent Dejan Veljkovic said: “There is indeed an agreement between the two clubs. I am currently in Dubai to finalise the transfer. My player still needs to find an agreement with his future club.”

However, a spokesman from Al Nasr confirmed the former Standard Liege, Racing Santander and Anderlecht striker was no longer in their plans. The spokesman said: “He [Tchite] was an option but not any more. There is news but nothing can be announced yet. We are still waiting for things to be finalised. We have the manager’s approval on players and things should be finalised by today or tomorrow. By next week, our team should be complete.”
