Berlin: Ivory Coast forward Didier Ya Konan is returning to play for Bundesliga side Hanover just six months after he was transferred to Saudi outfit Al Ittihad, the lower Saxony side announced on Tuesday.

“I am delighted to come back home again and once again to wear the Hanover shirt,” said Ya Konan, who was not included in his country’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations currently underway in Equatorial Guinea.

Hanover coach Tayfun Korkut said Ya Konan was a player with “exceptional qualities” who would give his attack more variety.

In his first spell with the club from 2009 to 2014, Ya Konan played 125 games and scored 39 goals.

Hanover are currently eighth in the Bundesliga and will play away at Schalke on Saturday when the German season resumes after the winter break.
