Accra: Former Ghana coach Herbert Addo has died aged 65 in the Accra military hospital from an undisclosed illness, football officials announced on Saturday. His four-decade coaching career included handling the national under-20, under-23 and senior teams. Addo guided Obuasi Goldfields (now AshantiGold) to the first CAF Champions League final in 1997, which they lost on penalties to Raja Casablanca of Morocco. He is the only coach to win the Ghanaian league title with four different clubs, including the two biggest crowd-pullers in the west African nation, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak. His other championships successes came with AshantiGold (twice) and Aduana Stars.
