London: Scotland’s Gary Anderson successfully defended his crown by defeating England’s Adrian Lewis 7-5 to lift the PDC World Darts Championship title at the Alexandra Palace on Sunday. Anderson, 45, held on despite a fightback by his rival to gain revenge on two-time winner Lewis, who beat him for the title in 2011. Lewis came back for 6-5 before Anderson, who miscounted three times, made a 170 checkout en route to a 300,000 euros ($443,776) prize. “I was playing a good friend of mine and it just never happened,” said Anderson, who toppled Phil Taylor a year ago for his first title.
