Dubai: The United Premier League (UPL) kick-started its third successive season at the Insportz Club, Dubai from last week.
Three new franchises have come on board and over 25 new players have joined the UPL family as a total of ten teams battle it out for the crown this season.
Golden Archers, Power On Rangers and 1Axcess Strikers are the three new sides, while the Khiara Knights, Unomat Chargers, Sun City Gladiators, You Got Flipped Titans, Tandoor Royals, Athena Warriors and Mr Tool Daredevils had participated last season.
This season, the league has adapted a different format by dividing the teams into two pools of five teams each. On completion of the league stage, the top two teams from each pool will play each other for a place in the final. The league will be played across four weeks concluding with the final on September 2.
“The organisers are extremely delighted to see the positive response the league has been getting from the first season. This is seen as a positive growth for the competition in just three seasons,” Menino Po of Insportz said.
“After seeing the enthusiasm in the last two seasons, title sponsors Pulse Dubai along with support sponsors SoundKraft and Sugaholic, and venue partners Insportz Club are extremely thrilled about yet another fun-filled season of the league,” he added.
