Dubai: UAE created history by becoming the only non-Test playing nation to have played in all forms of the World Cup in cricket.

After having played in the 50-over version of the ICC World Cup in 1996 and 2015, ICC Twenty20 World Cup in 2016, the UAE made their debut in World Indoor Cricket Federation World Cup yesterday (Saturday) to add another feather to Emirates Cricket Board’s cap and the UAE cricket’s history.

On the first day, the UAE women’s team led by Natasha Michael, making their debut in indoor cricket, fought hard to almost stun England. They lost by just six runs.

The UAE men’s team led by Saqib Nazir produced a sterling performance against last world cup runners up New Zealand, losing by only 14 runs. UAE scored 111 runs chasing New Zealand’s 125.

Meanwhile, India got off to a wining start defeating Singapore.
