Dubai: Kings XI Punjab are hoping to conquer their opponents and win the Indian Premier League’s tenth edition. Their mercurial super star Virender Sehwag, who is the Head of Cricket Operations, is taking an active interest to ensure that Punjab are at their best in this edition. The team commenced their cricket camp at the Holkare Stadium in Indore Sunday.

Incidentally, this camp will be the first to be run by Sehwag in the role of Head of Cricket Operations. He was previously only the guiding mentor of the team. His new role will allow him to oversee the camp and ensure a more passionate, lion hearted and entertaining approach by his players throughout the season.

Commenting on his new role and approach to the team’s plans, Sehwag said: “I am very happy to finally begin our IPL 10 campaign with the cricket camp this April. We have retained a fair amount of players from previous seasons allowing us to further grow our team chemistry, while the addition of new players such as Varun Aaron, T Natarajan and Darren Sammy will bring fresh ideas and skills.”

Talking about the camp, Sehwag said: “This camp will focus on developing our aggressive, brave and carefree style of cricket, while hopefully installing pride and passion in playing for Kings XI Punjab. We have high hopes and expectations for IPL 10 and this cricket camp will be the stepping stone to having a successful season.”

Domestic players Mohit Sharma, Manan Vohra, Axar Patel, Gurkeerat Mann and Anureet Singh arrived for the camp while international players such as Eoin Morgan, David Miller, Matt Henry, Shaun Marsh and Marcus Stoinis will be joining the team on April 4th and 5th.

The members of the support staff such as the assistant coach Mithun Manhas, batting coach J. Arun Kumar and fielding coach R. Sridhar Nishant Thakur will be joining Sehwag at the commencement of the camp.

Kings XI Punjab are promoted by a consortium, which includes Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul. The team is being led by Australian star Glenn Maxwell.
