Sharjah: Indian batting star Virender Sehwag is enjoying life in the semi-fast lane, but on his own terms.

Sehwag, who opted to push himself down the batting for Saturday’s inconsequential match against the Virgo Super Kings, showed his blistering form with the bat on Friday with some lusty hitting to thoroughly entertain the holiday crowd.

Sehwag went on to score 134 off 63 balls including 10 fours and eleven sixes putting up a partnership of 135 for the fourth-wicket along with Sri Lankan star Kumar Sangakkara to help his Arabians reach a daunting 224 for 7 in their allotted overs.

“This is not the first time that I am scoring a century,” Sehwag joked.

“Anyone scoring a century will have a good feeling inside. I am used to this feeling as I am used to scoring runs during my international career playing for India. Another reason for me to feel happy is because we have qualified to the semi-final with one more match still in hand,” he added.

Named last week as the mentor for Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab, Sehwag said he was more than happy to do whatever he can to ensure the Gemini Arabians win the inaugural edition of the Masters Champions League (MCL).

“T20 is a funny game. One decision can change the complexion of the match,” he observed.

“But the good thing is that we are all competitive. At the moment, we are playing good cricket and hopefully we can continue playing good cricket and win the tournament,” Sehwag added.
