Abu Dhabi: Prashat Kumara hit an unbeaten 111 and shared a century stand for the third wicket with Mohammad Fazil which saw Lions CC register a 79-run win over Eleven Lions and enter the semi-finals in the Gulf Technical Trophy.
Lions lost their openers Kalamazoo (1) and the Arunalu Silva (16) cheaply but the third wicket partnership of 120 between Kumara (111) and Mohammad Fazil (55) laid the foundation to post 191 for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Eleven Lions were skittled out for 112 in 20 overs.
Elsewhere, Naveed Saleem the UAE International hit a breezy 53 and claimed 2 wickets to see his side UBL to a 21-run win over W.H AD Gymkhana.
In another outing, half centuries from Mohammad Boota (96) and Usman Butt (50) paved the way for Royal Gymkhana’s convincing 65-run win over LLH Hospital.
And Husain Irshad and Haider Ali Butt grabbed three wickets each to steer NMC to an eight-wicket win over ADAC and a place in the last four of the tournament. Joining them in the last four were United Bank Limited, Royal Gymkhana, NMC and Lions CC.
The Plate competitions semi-finals will be played between Royal CC vs AD Yard and New Star vs Thrifty car rental.
