Mumbai: Delhi Daredevils skipper J.P. Duminy said the team’s players let themselves down with poor fielding and bowling in their 14-run Indian Premier League (IPL) loss to Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.

“We let ourselves down, specially it was our fielding and bowling. We dropped a couple of catches. Our body language and intensity weren’t there and that’s something we need to address from the next game,” Duminy said at the post-match press conference.

“If we are to find a place in the knockout stages, we have to find consistency in our performances. We have a couple of games left in the tournament. We have to be at our best in those,” he said.

Delhi batsman Yuvraj Singh, who was bought by the franchise for a hefty Rs.16 crore in the 2015 auctions, is yet to strike form, scoring just 146 runs from nine games.

When asked if his place in the side will be thought about, the skipper said, “We have all options open to us. I still believe in him as a player.

“At the end of the day he is a match-winner. I believe he will come good in the tournament. We as a squad and franchise back him to do that.”

The skipper praised Rajasthan’s Ajinkya Rahane for his match-winning 91 not out and the Royals bowlers.

“I think Rahane batted superbly, it was a great innings. He is a top class player. Their bowlers bowled consistently well. Some of the balls were difficult to play. They swung the ball very nicely,” Duminy concluded.

Delhi next play Mumbai Indian at the Wankhede Stadium here on Tuesday.
