Sharjah: C.P. Rizwan wrecked two teams with his accurate leg spin bowling in the Sharjah Summer Cup 2017, organised by Sharjah Cricket Club at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Playing for Bukhatir XI, Rizwan bagged four for 15 against Sealine Defenders to ensure his team to a 163-run victory and the next day he claimed three for 10 to destroy Al Massa Contracting and give his team a nine-wicket win.

Speaking to Gulf News, Rizwan said: “I have learnt over the years that while playing Twenty20 matches one has to keep up the pressure on the batsmen and then will force them to commit mistakes. In the first match I trapped three batsmen leg before and in the second match got two of them clean bowled. I believe if one can bowl a tight line wickets will come your way.”

In Bukhatir XI’s nine-wicket win, Rizwan also got good backing from Mohammad Sihan (3 for 16) and bowled out Al Massa for 110 in 17.2 overs.

Chasing the small target, Khalid Shah cracked an unbeaten 40-ball 61 runs supported by six boundaries and four sixes. Rizwan then chipped in with an unbeaten run-a-ball 18 runs after Muhammad Waseem hit 29 runs with three fours and a six to reach the target in only 12 overs.

Two four-wicket spells were the highlight of Multiplex International’s 14 runs win over Emirates Warriors and One Stop Toursim’s six wicket win over Globelink WestStar.

Saad Naseem, with a spell of four for 26, restricted Emirates Warriors to 160 for eight to defend Multiplex’s total of 174 for six while One Stop Tourism’s Amir Hayat bagged 3 for 36 to restrict Globelink to 166 for 7. One Stop Tourism reached the target in 14.5 overs.
