Dubai: G Force Cricket Academy will stage a tournament in Surrey, England, next month to help the development of budding cricketers from the UAE.

The eight-team competition, which will be called the Cricket Lovers tournament, will be held at Epsom College in Surrey. The touring players will get to play in at least 20 games during their 15-day stay.

G Force has focused its attention on grooming cricketers in the UAE from the age of six. The academy, which has repeatedly won the Dubai Cricket Council’s inter-academy tournaments, has initiated its programme especially for the summer holidays.

Gopal Jasapara, the G Force head coach, said: “Summer is the time when children should be guided to a sport that they like to play. Since it is the holiday period, they can focus fully on sharpening their skills and so we have organised a daily coaching programme for the ages of six to nine in the morning and 10 to 14 in the afternoons at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

“It is an indoor set-up and hence boys won’t feel the heat and at the same time give their best.”

After staging an under-10 tournament recently, Jasapara added: “We will now be staging under-11 and under-13 cricket tournaments in August for children who haven’t gone on holidays and are here in Dubai.”

Details of the tournament can be found on the academy website www.gforcecricketacademy.com.
