Abu Dhabi: Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) chief David East has been relieved of his duties as Abu Dhabi Cricket Club (ADCC) CEO, sources say.

East won’t be donning a dual hat and his final day at the ADCC office will be December 22, Gulf News understands. East’s three year contract ended last year but he continued to hold his post for one more year.

Abu Dhabi Cricket Club board has decided to not prolong his services anymore, however.

An official announcement is yet to be made but according to reliable sources it is understood that East has been informed about the developments.

East chose to remain silent on the development for the moment when contacted by Gulf News. He suggested he will be talking about the change of baton next week. East had taken the dual role of ECB and ADCC after Dilawar Mani, who also held both posts, stepped down in 2013.

Former Essex keeper-batsman East, however, will continue to work as chief of Emirates Cricket and will shift base to Dubai. Under his reign, the UAE cricket team ended their 26-year duck to appear at the 2015 World Cup in Australia-New Zealand and also saw them make it to their maiden appearance at the World T20 in 2016.
