Hobart: Australian pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins ran through the Scotland batting line up to bowl them out for a paltry 130 in 25.4 overs.

So deadly were the pair that the whole Scotland innings lasted only 116 minutes and five of their batsmen were out for ducks.

Australia won by seven wickets after rain stopped play when they needed 39 runs to win. Skipper Michael Clarke opened the innings and scored 47. They won the one-sided match in just 15.1 overs.

Australia won the toss and elected to field mainly due to the forecast of rain. In the second over, opener Calum MacLeod hit Pat Cummins for two consecutive boundaries. The first shot was through cover point and the second played nicely in front of square.

In the next over, Starc had Kyle Coetzer caught by Steven Smith in the covers for a duck. MacLeod continued to punish Cummins and hit him for another two boundaries in the fourth over.

The first was an elegant square drive and the next powerfully hit over cover point.

Next man Matt Machan also hot a boundary off Starc, punching him through point. Machan also scored an elegant boundary off Watson by picking the gap between the bowler and mid-off.

MacLeod clipped Starc off his legs for a four in the seventh but fell to the last ball of that over. He cut Starc in the air to Warner at backward point. MacLeod fell for 22 in an innings that featured five boundaries.

Skipper Preston Mommsen lasted only two balls, top edging Watson to Starc at backward square leg for the second duck of the innings.

Machan continued to keep the scoreboard moving with two more boundaries but next man Freddie Coleman became Mitchell Johnson’s only victim in his 150th ODI.

Coleman played an angling delivery from Johnson to Clarke who dived to his right from second slip to claim the catch. It was Scotland’s third duck.

Next man Berrington did slightly better, hitting a Maxwell delivery to David Warner in the covers for 1.

Machan hit Johnson for two consecutive boundaries in the 15th over but two overs later fell to Cummins, offering a simple catch to James Faulkner at long leg for 40.

In the same over, Matthew Cross departed, edging to wicketkeeper Brad Haddin for 9.

Seven down for 79, it looked like Scotland would be bowled out before the 100-run mark but Josh Davey hit Maxwell for two boundaries in the 18th over. He also played a glorious cover drive off Faulkner.

In the 20th over, Cummins dismissed Rob Taylor for a duck.

After Scotland went past the 100-run mark in the 21st over, Michael Leask hit Cummins for three consecutive fours.

In the 25th over rain stopped play for 30 mintues.

On resumption of play, Starc picked up the remaining two wickets in the 26th over with last man Ian Wardlaw becoming the fifth batsman of the innings to be out for a duck.

Chasing the moderate total, skipper Clarke opened the innings with Aaron Finch. They put on 30 runs in 3.6 overs to set the tempo for an easy win.
