Abu Dhabi: The 21st ADNOC Group Cricket Tournament (AGCT), organised by NPCC for the ADNOC Group of Companies, got underway on Saturday at the Shaikh Zayed Cricket Stadium grounds. A total of 64 matches are to be played and a total 16 teams are in fray in two groups with the finals scheduled on April 15.

The tournament claims to be the richest prize money tournament in the region with a total budget of over Dh240,000 and a prize money of Dh75,000. The entire tournament is managed by ADNOC Group Committee members through its various sub-committees and the matches are supervised by its umpire’s panel.

Winners from each group will get a cash prize of Dh10,800 while runner ups will get Dh7,200 from each group. Teams for 3rd position will also be awarded.

In addition, lots of prizes have been allocated such as Man of the Matches – for all round matches, Man of the Semi Finals, Finals, Best Bowlers, Best Batsman, Best All-rounders from each group. Many more prizes for different categories of players, supporters, officials have been allocated.

“At the end of the tournament the finalist from Group B will be promoted to Group A for the next years’ event, while the last two teams from Group A will be relegated to Group B,” organisers said.

Khalid Jabr, Vice Chairman AGCT highlighted at the press conference earlier that they will be releasing an AGCT Cricket Magazine first time in the history of AGCT, that will be distributed to all the ADNOC group of companies. This magazine will enhance the awareness of the game and will further promote the Cricket sport within the ADNOC Group as well as in the UAE.

Teams: Group A: ADNOC Distribution, ADMA, ADGAS, ADCO, ESNAAD, GASCO, NPCC and TAKREER; Group B: ADNATCONGSCO, ADNOC, AL HOSN GAS, BOROUGE, FERTIL, NDC, TAKREER(Ruwais) and ZADCO.
