Cleveland: JR Smith, who opted out of the final year of his contract after the NBA finals, said on Thursday that he is rejoining the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Smith tried, but failed to land a another deal with a different NBA team, so is now headed back to Cleveland.

Twenty-nine-year-old Smith came to the Cavaliers last season after three years with the New York Knicks and averaged 12.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 70 games.

“Happy to say that I am returning to the Cavs! It’s been a long ride this summer, but I can say for sure, well worth the wait,” Smith posted on his social media Instagram page.
