Denver: Raymond Felton scored the winning basket with 1.5 seconds left in the second overtime as the Dallas Mavericks outlasted Denver 144-143, spoiling a 47-point performance by Nuggets’ Danilo Gallinari.
The 287 combined points makes this the highest-scoring NBA game since 2012, when Oklahoma City and Minnesota combined for 289 points.
Dallas survived blowing a 21-point halftime lead before Felton went on to score five of his 11 points in the second overtime period on Friday night.
The Nuggets’ Kenneth Faried attempted a hook shot over Felton at the buzzer but missed.
Dirk Nowitzki tallied 25 points and nine rebounds for the Mavericks, who are already assured of the number seven playoff seed in the Western Conference.
Richard Jefferson scored 24 and Devin Harris finished with 21 on seven-of-nine shooting.
Gallinari’s career-high scoring night was the driving force behind the Nuggets’ second-half rally. It was the most points by a Denver player since Carmelo Anthony poured in 50 in 2011.
Gallinari exploded for 21 second-half points and dropped in 17 more over the two overtime frames. He was 15-of-23 overall from the floor, hit seven-of-12 attempts from beyond the arc and a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line.
“Gallo is a special kind of player,” said Denver coach Melvin Hunt.
Wilson Chandler had 20 points and 11 rebounds in the loss, with Ty Lawson finishing with 19 points and 18 assists.
