New York: Victor Martinez hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in his final game of the week, and J.D. Martinez supplied a three-run blast as the Detroit Tigers edged the Baltimore Orioles 6-5 on Thursday afternoon.

Victor Martinez’s long ball in the fifth erased a 4-3 deficit. Manager Brad Ausmus said Victor Martinez would be placed on the paternity list after the game and miss the weekend series against the Texas Rangers. He will return to Orlando for the birth of his fourth child.

J.D. Martinez’s homer was his third of the three-game series, as the Tigers took two out of three from the Orioles.

Chris Davis, Adam Jones and Seth Smith homered for the Orioles.

Danny Duffy picked up first victory since April 14, and Mike Moustakas belted a three-run homer as Kansas City defeated New York 5-1.

Meanwhile, Duffy struck out a season-high 10 over seven scoreless innings. He gave up only three singles — one was a bunt — and threw 69 of 108 pitches for strikes. Duffy (3-3) had been 0-3 with two no-decisions in his previous five starts.

Moustakas hit his team-leading 10th home run with Drew Butera and Alcides Escobar aboard in the fifth off rookie Jordan Montgomery (2-3). It was just Moustakas’ second homer off a left-hander this season.
