Miami: Giancarlo Stanton knocked in three runs to break the franchise record for home runs leading the Miami Marlins to an 8-3 Major League Baseball victory over the San Francisco Giants on Monday.

Stanton lined a 2-0 pitch from Giants pitcher Ty Blach over the left-field fence in the first inning for his 43rd homer, breaking Gary Sheffield’s season record that stood for 21 years.

Stanton is on pace for 60 homers this year after hitting 10 homers in his past 11 games and 22 in his past 34 games.

It was the fifth straight game in which Stanton homered, setting another club record for the Marlins, who have won four consecutive games.
