Boston: New York Yankees player Aaron Judge set the record for the longest strikeout streak in a season in Saturday’s 4-3 Yankees win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Judge, who plays right field, struck out for the 36th straight game in a single Major League Baseball season when he was fanned by Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale in the fifth inning.

Montreal Expos pitcher Bill Stoneman set the previous record in 1971.

Judge is now 0-9 with seven strikeouts against Sale in his career.

Judge’s 36 straight games with a strikeout is also tied for the second-longest streak regardless of the season.
