New York: Chris Iannetta homered, doubled twice and drove in a career-high seven runs as the Arizona Diamondbacks completed a three-game sweep with a 15-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on Thursday at Chase Field.

Daniel Descalso had two hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs as Arizona improved to a major league-best 24-8 at Chase Field, the best home start in franchise history.

Paul Goldschmidt, Chris Owings and Nick Ahmed had two hits apiece for the D-backs, who outscored the Padres 32-9 in the series.

Wil Myers, Hunter Renfroe and Jose Pirela had two hits apiece for San Diego, who have lost five in a row after a five-game winning streak.

Jose Altuve, meanwhile, hit a two-run homer as Houston sent 10 men to the plate in a five-run ninth inning to beat Kansas City 6-1.

Lance McCullers’ no-hit bid ended with one out in the seventh when he gave up a triple to Kansas City’s Lorenzo Cain. After McCullers struck out Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas’ single to right drove in Cain to make it 1-1.

In the ninth, after Kelvin Herrera (1-2) walked Josh Reddick on four pitches, Altuve hit a 1-0 offering out to left-centre to break a 1-1 tie. The inning also included a triple from Carlos Correa, who scored on a Brian McCann sacrifice fly. Jake Marisnick drove in the other two runs with a single.
