Sharjah: Sharjah’s Flag Island is all set to host the inaugural Flag Island Duathlon in cooperation with the Sharjah Triathlon Team on August 25.
Consisting of 25km cycling on either side of 3km runs, the race will have a 5.45am start at Sharjah’s premier tourist destination that’s fast becoming one of UAE’s most iconic landmarks.
Registration has already commenced and anyone aged 16 years and above can participate either as individuals or as teams. The race will open with a 3km run followed by a 25km cycling race and finally conclude with a second 3km run.
Organisers have been putting things in order to have a safe and popular race for the entire family. Nearby roads will be closed off for a designated running track to ensure the entire family can participate in a safe and fun race. In addition, there will be plenty of aid stations and demarcated areas for supporters and enthusiasts.
Applications are being accepted on a first come, first served basis and registration will close on August 24 and participants can register online at: www.hopasports.com.
Individual participation includes an open category for men and women as well as a separate category for UAE men and women. A mixed double participation is made up of one man and one woman, consisting of one runner and one cyclist and there is an open event for all male and all female teams.
