Dubai: The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) is the first team to sign up for this year’s Dubai Dash corporate relay running race scheduled to be held on December 7.

This year’s race follows hot on the heels of the 2015 inaugural event, which saw 45 corporate teams take on the 15km course.

Each runner will tackle a 1.5km stretch while cheered on from the sidelines by their colleagues.

The race aims to give companies an opportunity to engage with their most important asset — staff — in a fun, competitive environment that encourages teamwork and inclusivity.

Dubai Sports Council was heavily involved in the success of the 2015 event — from publicising the race, facilitating licences to encouraging participation.

“The Dubai Dash is an excellent event that encourages participation in sport for all levels of ability,” Saeed Hareb, General Secretary, DSC, said.

“Companies are starting to understand the benefits of having physically fit employees. Dubai Sports Council is delighted to support the event once again and the team is excited about racing on December 7,” he added.

Event owner Sally Corander, from Interact, commented: “We were delighted with the interest in the event last year with many government entities, local and international businesses and sports clubs taking part. We know 2016 will see significant growth in terms of participation as the event format encourages all abilities to complete the 1.5km loop and appeals to many corporate wellness programmes. We already have a number of partners on-board for 2016 and some exciting new developments, which will really add value to the event and teams.”

Registration for the Dubai Dash is now open to teams of ten at: www.dubaidash.com.
