Each one of us should practise good deeds and indeed, by doing so, we will receive respect from our fellow human beings. Respect is a value that indicates whether a person is good or bad. In today’s society — a respectful person is a person who has a good job, a good amount of money, nice attire, and a good physical appearance. In turn, people believe that only such people deserve to be respected, but what about the others?

India is a country in which people slog their lives for a perfect living, and while they may not come from a family that owns a mining industry, or look beautiful, have a nice attire — but they are certainly people who should be respected, not because they need our respect, but because they deserve it.

With that in mind, everyone should be respected irrespective of how he or she is defined by people. Although we can’t make a change overnight, we can begin with our families by starting to respect one another.

Respect may just be one word, but it takes years to practice. However, we need to start somewhere and what is better than to start at home? By starting with the family, in turn, it will have great effects on our society, then on the state, later on the country and maybe one day, we can create change on the entire planet!

It is important that we keep progressing as human beings and in turn, so will our society. We are all equal and there is no need to insult or create any differences. With the Indian Republic Day on January 26, let us spread love and respect around us as by respecting our fellow beings, they will also respect us. We ought to practice this statement with a smile.
