Over the past few decades, two things remain clear: The Israeli occupation and the crimes against defenceless Palestinian people committed by colonial Zionists, without any consideration for humanitarian values or international laws, according to the UAE’s Al Bayan.

“Israel also pays little heed to any international condemnation regarding its actions. The only thing that instils fear in the Zionist occupation is the rage of the Palestinians. The Zionist authorities do not know how to deal with such rage and so they respond with violence, which further fuels the anger of Palestinians. The Israelis have experienced this before in the form of the first and second intifadas [uprisings]. And now the third intifada is on the verge of breaking out, after the Palestinian rage has boiled over as a result of the Zionist occupation’s crimes,” the paper said.

Oman’s Al Watan said: “The Palestinian intifada continues and the country has become a project of martyrdom for its people after they chose to resist the occupation. No matter how many forget the Palestinian cause, it will remain the central issue even during this time of hardship in the Arab world. Palestine is the region’s sword, anchor and pillar. It is worth noting that Israel’s presence in the region remains the prime reason for the current state of the Arab nation and only serves to further exacerbate the issues it is facing.”

Al Sharq said Qatar had warned the world about the repercussions of the Syrian crisis since it started. “The repercussions of the crisis consisted of worsening humanitarian situation and had dire consequences on regional and international peace and security. Many have failed when it came to reading into the outcome of these repercussions, the most prominent being the current migration issue in which desperate people are heading to Europe in search of a better and dignified life, no matter the cost. The migration issue transformed into global crisis because the international community was not prepared, lacking a plan to deal with the possible repercussions of the Syrian crisis. The important step now is to support international efforts to solve the root cause of the crisis — a political solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people and at the same time continue work on alleviating the suffering of civilians, migrants and refugees,” the paper commented.

The current threat of terrorism could have been contained and restrained if the world had quickly responded to calls by Saudi Arabia and other countries to resolve the Syrian crisis, said Saudi Arabia’s Al Yaum. “Saudi Arabia had called for unifying international efforts to dry up sources of terrorism financing. This threat could have been contained had the world struck while the iron was hot. Now the threat has transformed into an incurable disease and Syria has turned into a fertile ground for all forms of terrorism due to the world [initially] ignoring events in the country. Current events call for an international movement to first resolve the Syrian crisis and shut it off from terrorism that seems to be making its way into the country from every corner of the Earth. Second, a clear strategy must be set up to combat terrorism through international efforts that everyone, without exception, must contribute to.”
