The liberation of Aden has proven that Arab countries, spearheaded by Saudi Arabia, UAE and other nations, are capable of thwarting and combatting terrorism, said UAE’s Al Bayan. “This proves that the coalition versus Al Houthis is not merely a slogan and the joy of the people of Aden is evidence that the coalition is well aware of the interests of the people. The way Aden celebrated this victory and achievement also clearly proves that will of the UAE and the coalition was never against those of any Arab people. On the contrary, the contributions of prominent Arab countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE to preserve the lives of Yemenis is clear indication that they will always side with the people of the Arab nation and will try as hard as possible to save them from the clutches of murderers.”

The decision of Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to appoint a governor in liberated Aden reaffirms the official return of the legitimacy to Aden, said Saudi Arabia’s Al Watan.

“It is also good news to all Yemenis that salvation is close and a warning to rebels that they no longer have a place in the country. It is better for the rebels to stop tampering with Yemen, because there is no chance of executing Iran’s plan as long as all Arabs are standing by Yemeni legitimacy. The Arab coalition has restored Arab peoples’ trust in their national leadership, capabilities and unity when it comes to views and stands.

A positive sign

“The Arab coalition will continue to chase the rebels and support the legitimacy in Yemen until it is fully liberated. The state in which these rebels have left Aden in is the conduct of inhumane criminal gangs, and perhaps the coming few days will reveal to the world the true image of the rebels and [Ali Abdullah] Saleh’s men,” the newspaper said.

The liberation of Aden is a positive sign and an important step towards foiling the project that targeted the region and aims to divide it into weak entities and small countries, said Qatar’s Al Sharq. “Freeing Aden from Al Houthis and Saleh’s forces serves as proof that the popular resistance, which is backed by Storm of Resolve and the Arab coalition, is determined and keen on the importance of liberating all Yemeni lands from the coup and restoring the country to what it is supposed to be.

“The liberation of Aden is a strong deterrent to Iranian intervention and its project to divide Yemen, that targeted the unity of the Arab nation and its lands.”

The liberation of Aden is a major step in the war against extremism. However, it is premature to see this as anything more than the beginning of the end, said Saudi Arabia’s Arab News. “The straggler groups from the retreating Al Houthis could not only be dangerous in their do-or-die stand but could well booby-trap the city’s streets and buildings and the mop-up operation in the aftermath will have to literally be taken step by step.

“The one other flank that has to be contained is that of recruiting the disaffected or the simply misled youth that is lured into becoming child soldiers. With the city of Taiz as the next objective, the coalition has certainly scored a crippling blow to the rebels and put them on the backfoot.”
