Doha was successful in laying down the grounds for dialogue and consultation for oil producing countries around the world, said Qatar’s Al Sharq. “The Doha oil meeting, which saw the participation of 15 countries and lasted for six hours, and the world’s gaze was firmly fixed on its outcomes. Even though the meeting did not result in any agreements to freeze oil output, which many of the participating countries were hoping for, it still resulted in laying down the base for negotiations and left the door open for many future meetings between oil producing nations. This would serve the market and restore its stability following steep declines in the price of oil barrels. The constructive participation of the countries reaffirms the status Qatar enjoys on an international level.”

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that the ministries of energy of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran will attend the Doha oil meetings, however, it seems that Iran rejected this and the meeting was held without Iranian representation, said the London-based Pan-Arab paper Al Quds Al Arabi. “Iran’s absence from the meeting that was held recently leaves it in an alliance on its own against the other oil producing nations. Any approvals to freeze oil production without Iran committing to any production ceiling would be considered a backing to Iran’s stance of defiance and arrogant superiority, particularly with the lifting of the American and European sanctions, which will allow Iran to gain billions by flooding the oil market with crude oil. One can view the oil policy in light of Iran’s ongoing zealousness to defend the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al Assad, its unjust intervention in Iraq, its support for Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon. After all, the policy of military and political intervention needs to be supported by a similar economic policy.”

Israeli arrogance is escalating day by day before the entire world, which remains motionless before such conceited acts, said Palestine’s Al Quds. “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently held his Cabinet meeting at the occupied Golan Heights, proclaiming that the location of the meeting is a clear message to the world: The Golan Heights will be forever Israeli. Israel continues to colonise Jerusalem, carry out incursions into Al Aqsa Mosque and its attempts to partition it based on time and place. Israel continues to reject peace and a two-state solution. It is true that the US encourages Israel on such practices and arrogance, taking advantage of the current state of the Arab world’s internal and sectarian wars. However, the international community, and particularly the United Nations, must bear the responsibility of preserving world peace.”

Israel’s plans to construct a new part of its controversial separation barrier in the occupied West Bank has the European Union deeply concerned, said the Saudi Gazette. “The wall itself was deemed ‘contrary to international law’ by the International Court of Justice in 2004. The ICJ said that Israel must dismantle it and make reparation. Whatever Israel and its friends may say, everyone knows the real purpose of the wall: Annexing plum Palestinian land and water sources. So it is a crude attempt to change the “facts on the ground” or create new ones,” the paper said.
